Foster Care Worker

To be a successful Foster Care Worker you must become able to do the following always:

Provide support to and supervision of Foster Parents to achieve safety, well-being, and permanency for children in their care.
Conduct recruitment activities that result in increased foster homes to meet the needs of the community and contractors.
Assess needs and provide knowledge, skills, and tools to Foster Parents to successfully function within the expectations and procedures outlined in the Foster Parent Handbook.
Grow the involvement of churches, community and other faith based organizations to increase foster home recruitment.
Demonstrate the willingness to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job within the competencies established for the position.
Job Responsibilities
50% - Provide supervision of assigned Foster Parents through service provision, assessing and promoting safety, well-being, and permanency.
40% - Recruit, train and license foster homes through partnership with church and communities to meet the need.
10% - Participate in supervision and staff meetings.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
To qualify for this job you need to have:

1. Bachelors degree in social work or licensable degree.
2. Licensed with Kansas Behavioral Science Regulatory Board preferred.
3. Prefer 2 years experience in child welfare.
4. Ability to travel, driving agency or personal vehicle including at night. Ability to do occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. Able to walk up stairs. Ability to work flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends. Employee is subject to outside environmental conditions occasionally; inside conditions frequently, with protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature change.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
